Alec Jones - monster of an artist

Alec Jones' Dragon is cute AND cool!

I was perusing in a blog I don't frequent enough, and found this really great artist Alec Jones. He's got a variety of art, but I love his monsters. The style makes sense in so many ways. His imagination, and ability for putting tons of detail in something so simple makes me jealous as an artist myself. Nice work, Alec. What you call a "doodle" I'd hang in my living room. Great zombie!

Check out Drawn! (where I found him)

This is squarey

Anthony, the Squarey Monster,
and the "only cycloptopus ever known."

This is Anthony of the Squarey Monsters. They are a cute set of monsters with their own clever origins and missions. Anthony, for instance, helps kids find things that they lost.

The Squarey Monsters are designed by Monkey Doodle Dandy.

Totally kid-friendy. Here's the Squarey Monsters Blog.

Animal

Lots of monsters in this window with the Muppet, Animal!

I was walking my dog near the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, and found this Animal from The Muppets in a musical instrument store that looks closed down.

Monster Crush

Robert Berry has a one-eyed green octopus monster on his shoulder.

I've never officially met Robert Berry, the webmaster at Retrocrush, but we've connected through our sites, blogs and Facebook. He's got a lot of the same interests and appreciations as I do, so when I saw he changed his profile picture to this one it made sense to ask him if he would like to grace the face of Millions of Monsters… as the second post. We've come a long way, baby!

And, since we share a specific appreciation for the king of all monsters, here's a link to his article on The Censored Scenes of King Kong.

Garbage monster

There's a monster collecting your trash.

I author a blog called Millions of Monkeys with a few other contributors. It's basically a way for me to log all the monkeys I run across in my daily life. A while back I thought it would be a good idea to do something similar (actually the same), but with monsters. So, there you have it. This is "Millions of Monsters." Starts with this first monster.

This garbage truck monster was wedged on a garbage truck outside one of the Sanitation buildings in Brooklyn, NYC. Sometimes you'll see a plush doll or teddy wired to the grill in the front. Today while walking my dog outside my art studio, I saw a monster. And, though I was already inclined to do this blog, props go to the Sanitation guys who did this, and inspired me to get it going.
